Follow These Steps to Use CSR Funding

Step 1: Reach out to a vendor and get a quote

Reach out to the vendor or supplier of your choice, and seek a quote or invoice for a payment. Do not pay for anything yourself in advance (out of pocket, or otherwise), but follow the next steps to initiate payment to the vendor or supplier.

Step 2: Complete a Transaction Request Form

Download the Transaction Request From (TRF) (here) and fill it out to detail what you are planning to spend money on. Be mindful of how different vendor types (e.g., preferred, non-preferred) impact the school’s ability to pay.

When complete, email the TRF to CSR Treasurer, Alexander Diwan (tiberius@penncareylaw.upenn.edu).

CSR will indicate whether you have sufficient funds to pay for the request, but we recommend you also keep tabs on your budget throughout the year to track expenses.

Step 3: CSR will forward the TRF to Business Affairs

Once we have confirmed that you have sufficient funds for your request and that it is within the University’s spending guidelines, CSR will approve your TRF and forward it to Business Affairs, who will initiate payment.

Step 4: Receive confirmation of payment and receipt

Business Affairs will work with you to complete the payment for your purchase. Keep track of all receipts and invoices you receive.

FAQ

By what date does our organization need to spend its CSR funds?

All CSR funds need to be spent by June 30th, and organizations will not be able to access any remaining funds after this date. This does not apply to an outside funding, such as firm funding.
