Tickets are limited, so if you would like to come, reserve here. Students will be able to buy their own drinks and food from nearby vendors at the ice rink. You will receive a confirmation email from CSR if you received a ticket.

Welcome to our new site!

CSR is excited to announce the launch of our new website!

As we all come back from several semesters away from Penn Law and one semester under our belts of navigating this post-COVID (and continuing COVID) law school experience, we are looking for your feedback about how to make this site the best it can be.

Have a thought? Drop us a note at our Suggestion Box, or email any of the CSR Members. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Letter calling for action against Professor Amy Wax

 In December 2021, Penn Professor Amy Wax, in the latest of a string of hateful and racist comments over several years, published remarks attacking members of the Asian American community and disparaging Asian American immigrants.

Several members of the Penn Law community have compiled a letter, which has amassed more than 1,500 signatures from Penn Law students, staff, alumni, and affiliates, addressed to Dean Ted Ruger and the Tri-Chairs of the Faculty Senate calling for swift action beyond verbal condemnation of Professor Wax’s comments.

Start to the Spring Semester

As we begin the Spring 2022 semester, many of you likely have questions as to the Law School’s policies and procedures to maintain safety and preserve the elements of the in-person learning experience to the extent possible. See below the message from Dean of Students Felicia Lin from December 23, 2021.

Note from Dean Lin

Dear Students,

 As you have likely seen, the University has announced that classes will be offered remotely until January 24.  This will include Law School classes.  We will still begin with the first day of classes on January 10, and I am confident we can pivot quickly and continue with minimal disruption.  I write now to share what this announcement means for the Law School.

Remote Class Access.  Law classes will be remote until January 24.  All Course Canvas pages have Zoom links established for remote classes, which can be accessed by clicking “Student Zoom Course” in the left-hand menu.  ITS has prepared a detailed guide on attending class via Zoom.

Building Operations.  The Law School will be open and available to any student enrolled in a Law course for the spring semester and to December ’21 LLM graduates who previously requested access.  Individual study rooms remain open for reservation.  The Law School re-opens after the break with holiday hours as follows:

  • Jan. 5-7: Law School open from 7am-8pm; Biddle Law Library open from 9am-6pm;

  • Jan. 8: Law School open from 9am-8pm; Biddle Law Library open from 10am-6pm;

  • Regular hours resume on Sunday, January 9.

Students who wish to use the Law School to attend class via Zoom can do so by going to the scheduled classroom for a particular course.  Please remember to bring your computer and a personal set of headphones to the classroom to use during class.

Return to Campus.  As the University has outlined, all students must receive a gateway test upon arrival on campus, with more details forthcoming.  Free PennCares testing will continue to be available to all students over break.  You can find the schedule here.  All eligible students are also required to receive a COVID-19 booster shot by January 31.

I will continue to share more information when available.  In the meantime, I wish you all a healthy and restorative break and look forward to being together again in the new year.

Best,

Felicia
